Low Humidity And Green Grass Make For A Smokey Mess

Oskaloosa firefighters quickly extinguished a green grass fire that made for a smokey situation in Oskaloosa.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – Reports of heavy smoke filtering through Oskaloosa started to come in at approximately 7:15 p.m. Monday evening.
Firefighters found the cause of the smoke in the 2700 block of Osburn Avenue, south of Oskaloosa.
According to Oskaloosa Fire Chief, Mark Neff, the low humidity helped the smoke hug the ground for long distances, and was a contributor to the smoke not lifting before entering Oskaloosa. The wind was from the south/southeast, and drove the smoke into Oskaloosa.
