Linda Winegar
June 22, 1951 – November 27, 2020
Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 69

Linda Kay (Wymore) Winegar, 69, of Oskaloosa, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Oakwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Albia, IA. Linda was born in Oskaloosa on June 22, 1951, to Warren and Annie Wymore, the oldest of two children.

Linda graduated from Northeast Hamilton High School in Blairsburg, Iowa, in 1969.

Linda married Ken LaRue in August of 1970. Three children, Shawn, Brandy, and Sara, were born to this union. They divorced in 1985.

In addition to the rigors of family life, Linda resumed her college education graduating from William Penn College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 1985, following in her father’s footsteps. She went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Education from Drake University in 1994.

Linda taught at Hedrick, Knoxville, and BGM Schools before working as a consultant for the AEA. She also taught courses at the college level. The child of an educator and a nurse, she had a passion for education.

Linda was united in marriage to Melvin Winegar on May 13, 1988. Rich memories were made living at the airport, weekends at Lake Ponderosa, and the Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations that she and Mel hosted.

Linda was good to her children’s friends, hosting and treating them as her own. She enjoyed shopping, her fur babies, and spending time with family. She was sentimental and caring, keeping every picture given to her and every newspaper clipping of a family accomplishment. Mel took great care of her as her health declined in recent years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Melvin of Oskaloosa; her children: Shawn (& Traci) LaRue of Eddyville, Brandy (& Eric) Pacheco of Moorpark, California, and Sara (& Mike) Laesch of Verona, Wisconsin; stepsons: Curtis (& Jami) Winegar of Pleasant Hill, and Craig (& Penni) Winegar of Rose Hill; her grandchildren: Adam, Grant, Aspen, Easton, Reagan, Jenna, Cody, Mallari, Kayli (& Trevor) Mabee, Breanni (& Kyle), Isaiah, Amerisi, Lynzi, and Josiah Winegar; and one great-granddaughter, Adalynn Mabee. She is also survived by a brother, Larry (& Pam) Wymore of Momence, Illinois, and his children: Carmen (& Chris) Gnandt, Holly (& Jesse) Erickson, and Warren (& Stephanie) Wymore; and two grandnieces, Tatum and Lennon.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
