Leatrice Krusemark

Oskaloosa. Leatrice R. “Becky” Krusemark, 85, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa. She was born on November 15, 1924, in the Tioga Township of Mahaska County, the daughter of John Lewis and Lela Blanche Wymore Pearson. Following school she stayed home and helped with the farm work and helped care for her siblings. On October 26, 1941, she was united in marriage to Harold W. Krusemark at Lancaster, Missouri. Harold died October 25, 1991. Following their marriage they stayed on her parent’s farm to help with the farming operation. For a time she worked at the old Continental Overall Factory in Oskaloosa. They later decided she should stay home and help Harold on the farm; they farmed there together for over 40 years. They retired from farming and moved to Oskaloosa in 1990. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rose Hill Ladies Group. She enjoyed watching television, reading, writing, and dancing.

Her family includes her four children, Sharon (& Lynn) Leazer of Lake of the Ozarks, Karen (& Paul) Six of Las Vegas, Danny (& Jill) Krusemark of Oskaloosa, and Vickie (& Danny) Kauffman of Rose Hill; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters in law: Doris Pearson of Albia and Gerry Pearson of Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Ila Mae Pearson; and three brothers: Donald, Glenn, and Joseph “Gene” Pearson.

Graveside funeral services and burial will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010, at 10 a.m. in the Tioga Cemetery east of Rose Hill with Pastor Phil DeBoef officiating. For those wishing to go to the cemetery a procession will form at 9:10 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Friday morning after 11 a.m. and the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel Friday evening from 6-8 to greet friends and relatives.
