Lady Statesmen Reach Highest Position Yet at #27

Oskaloosa–The William Penn softball team improved two more positions as the seventh NAIA poll was released today.

The Lady Statesmen (42-15) are now a season-best 27th with 53 points. The squad remains the only representative from the Midwest Collegiate Conference in the poll and is the top team in the state of Iowa. Northwestern is 42nd with three points.

The top five is exactly the same as last week. Concordia (Calif.) is again at the top with 591 points and 20 first-place votes. Cal State-San Marcos, Oklahoma City, Central Baptist (Ark.), with the final first-place vote, and Lubbock Christian (Texas) round out the top five.

William Penn will open this weekend’s MCC Final Round Tournament by meeting #4 seed Iowa Wesleyan Saturday at noon.
