KIIC Farm/Ag Show this Weekend

KIIC Regional Farm Show & Ag Expo
Area Ag Broadcaster and classic country radio station Thunder Country KIIC 96.7 will host it’s first annual Regional Farm Show and Ag Expo this weekend at the Bridgeview Center in Ottumwa. Organizers say there has been an overwhelming response from exhibitors across the region. “We are basically out of space in the expo hall with roughly 100 vendors” according to Joe Milledge, station owner. “This event is overdue for this area, and with emphasis on Ag, we felt a responsibility to bring it to our area. “ Milledge went on to say, “Area farmers sometimes cant’ give up an entire day to drive to the large shows in Des Moines and they often get lost in the crowd. In addition, local Ag vendors can’t spend thousands of dollars in vendor fees to show at those events either. That’s what makes a local show work so well.”
Admission is free, and the show kicks off Friday at 3pm with Iowa Ag Secretery Bill Northey delivering a session on “Opportunities in Iowa Agriculture” but there are many more sessions on topics from Cover Crops, to understanding the Farm Bill, to the latest on Iowa Livestock – plus many more topics. Milledge adds “you can even attend a free session on Friday night which could qualify you to get your gun permit”. For more information on Sessions, click here: http://kiicradio.com/?page_id=4362
The Show will also entice attendees with free food events to the first 500… including a free ribeye sandwich Friday night from 5-7, free pancakes on Saturday morning from 7-9 with farm broadcaster Ken Root, and a free Bacon Bar on Saturday from 1-3 sponsored by local seed dealer Bryan Seeds and Golden Harvest.
“This is such a critical time in agriculture with the newly signed Farm Bill, plus commodities all over the place, this event just gives those in agriculture a chance to meet and discuss the hot topics, and hopefully find products or solutions needed to operate” Milledge said.
The show runs from 3-8 on Friday and 8-3 on Saturday. For more information go to www.kiicradio.com
