Jungle Safari comes to Oskaloosa

Jungle Safari staff helping to make that special picture

Jungle Safari came to town with their wide assortment of animals. Tigers, llamas, monkey’s,ring-tailed lemurs, a red kangaroo, a baby tiger, a baby lion, and various other animals. A camel and ponies for a ride. Penn Central Mall is the place to catch up with them.

When we arrived to the petting zoo, one of the first things that struck us was how friendly and professional the staff was. They were talking and explaining different aspects of the animals, tending to the young one’s desire to ride the ponies, and get their picture with one of the many different exotic animals they have. When a young lion made a mess in it’s cage, the staff was there and cleaned it up right away, cleaning the animal as well. So very impressive what we just seen, it showed us instantly the desire the staff and management have to treat the animals right.

Dinner is served to the 17 month old tiger.

The Jungle Safari travels for 5 to 6 weeks at a time with a set of animals, then returns to home base so the animals can be in their normal enclosures. Owner Robert Engesser was very gracious and was more than happy to help us. He gave great descriptions and history of what animals were there currently on tour.

They will be at the Penn Central Mall parking lot until Sunday. Admission is free to see the animals. They do charge a small fee to see the white tiger and black leopard, with those fee’s going to help feed the animals. Pictures are available for a fee as well with you and your choice of cute and cuddly furry friend, or in the case of my Wife, an 11 foot reptile!!

Would highly recommend a visit to see them, it’s not very often you come across such a friendly group of people that are so willing to help.
