Julie Maria (Carter) Beal, age 64, of Moravia, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Julie was born on January 29, 1958 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport, Iowa to John William and Janet (Jenkins) Carter.
Julie grew up attending Albia Community Schools graduating a year early with the class of 1975.
Julie was united in marriage to Ronald Beal on September 1, 1977 at the First Christian Church in Albia. To this union 2 children were born, Sherra Lin and Eric E.
Julie had many jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked for Golden Age Nursing Home before becoming a security guard for Merrill Security at Cargill in Eddyville. She then ran scales for Appanoose County Sanitation. Julie also spent time as a first responder for Unionville, Iowa and doing tax work for Peak-Gerdes in Albia.
When Julie wasn’t working, she spent time reading books, especially ones written by Stephen King. Her favorite books and movies were Sci/Fi and she could tell you just about every Sci/Fi book and movie. Julie had a love for archeology and loved to go arrowhead hunting. She even spent time on the Iowa Archeology Society Board. Julie will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched throughout the years.
Julie is survived by her husband, Ronald; 2 children, Sherra Lin (& Randy) Hall and Eric E. (& Amber) Beal; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother, Blaine (& Julie) Carter; and 4 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John William Carter and Janet Jenkins.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Julie’s family present throughout to greet family and friends.
A procession will form at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia at 1:30 to proceed to Salem Cemetery.
Funeral graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Salem Cemetery West of Moravia, with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating.
An open memorial has been established to the family.
