Oskaloosa, Iowa | Age 76

Judy McCloud finished her two year battle with colon cancer Tuesday evening, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Judith Beatrice McCloud, daughter of Louis Theodore Cox and Grace Geraldine Sellers, was born March 27, 1937, in Miami, Florida. Following her 1955 graduation from Miami Jackson High School, she was employed for two years as a clerk at the Dade County Court House. While working at the court house, Judy met the love-of-her-life, Edward Eugene McCloud. They were married six months later and Ed’s service in the Air Force required their move to Portland, Oregon. After four years in Portland they were transferred to Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa. After Ed’s discharge, they moved to Yankton, South Dakota, where together they pursued a career with Lindsay Water Conditioning. October 13, 1967, the family moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa when an opportunity to own their own franchise became available. Judy and Ed’s career with Lindsay Water Conditioning lasted 30 years and eventually they brought their son, Eddie in as a partner. Judy and Ed’s spirit of entrepreneurship continued when they purchased an Appanoose County farm in 1970. This farm still remains in the family and Judy was active in its operation until the time of her death.
Judy enjoyed traveling with her family, especially the girl’s trips to the beaches of Florida. She also enjoyed quilting, spring mushroom hunting and four-wheeling at the farm.

Her family includes her children: Cindy and Terry Bihn, Vickey and Joe Beecher and Eddie and Loretta McCloud, all of Oskaloosa; eight grandchildren: Leo (Jessi) Bihn, Andrea (Mark) Tennison, Kara (Josh) Weishaar, Katie (Michael) Taylor, Josie Beecher, Kara Van Kooten, Sam McCloud, Annie McCloud; six great grandchildren; a brother, Louis (Angie) Cox of Okeechobee, FL; a sister, Carol (Harold) Newton of Miami, FL and a sister-in-law, Carol Ann Cox of Lawndale, NC.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded by her husband, Ed, on April 12, 1997, and a brother, Lawrence Cox.

Memorial services for Judy will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 15, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Gail Lilleman officiating.
As was Judy’s wish, her body has been cremated and burial of her ashes will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Friday at the Funeral Chapel; the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House.
