John Robert Simmers Jr., age 80, of Eddyville, died on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on April 20th, 1941 to John R. Simmers Sr. and Mary Lucille Bloodsworth.
He is survived by his children: Jaquline Lavoe (& Mike) Minter, Patricia Lynn (& Todd) Heinle, Lee Ann Dickey; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and special friend, Miona Morrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. And Mary Lucille Simmers; and two sisters, Pam Steel and Lou Knoot.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel with Pastor Nick Hughes officiating.
Inurnment will follow services in Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022, opening to the public at 2:00 p.m., with John’s family present from 5-7 p.m., Thursday evening at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel.
