Jean Davis, 93 formerly of New Sharon passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Comfort Hospice House in Pella. Jean Elizabeth Davis, the daughter of Jules and Blanche Olson, was born on April 26, 1928 in Williamsburg, Iowa.
Jean graduated from Hilton Consolidated School in Conroy, Iowa in 1946.
On August 10, 1947, Jean was united in marriage to Craig Davis.
Jean and Craig moved to New Sharon in 1950, when Craig opened a chiropractic clinic in New Sharon. Jean was a stay-at-home mom before helping Craig in the clinic answering phones. She also volunteered many years at the New Sharon Public Library.
Faith and family were very important to Jean as she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren in all of the school and church activities. Over the years, Jean played lots of golf, spent time with several coffee groups, was a member of PEO, the Red Hat Ladies, Eastern Star, the New Sharon Library Committee, the New Sharon Betterment Committee, the Prairie Homes Board, the New Sharon United Methodist Church along with UMW and Faith Circle. Jean also enjoyed attending all North Mahaska sporting events, many Iowa Hawkeye Football games and spending time with Lyn’s dog, Bentley.
Her legacy will be honored by her daughter, Lyn (Ralph) Ihde of New Sharon; her grandchildren, Ryan Ihde, Makayla (Tyler Swenson) Ihde and Parker Davis; sister-in-law, Shirley Meade and many other relatives and friends.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Blanche Olson; her husband, Craig Davis; her son, Steve Davis and siblings and their spouses, Maxine (Pete) Ahrens, Muriel (Don) Germony, Carolyn (Robert) Jones, Doris (Orrin) Fetzer, Phyllis Olson, Forrest “Bud” Olson and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am Friday, October 8, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in New Sharon.
Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Methodist Church or Prairie Knolls Country Club. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
