Indians Volleyball Teams Battle Newton, A2 Team Earns Hard-Fought Victory
The Oskaloosa Indians volleyball teams faced off against the Newton Cardinals in an exciting night of matches. The A1 team fell 0-3, with scores of 11-21, 11-21, and 13-15. Despite the loss, Taylen Parker led the team with 10 assists, 2 digs, and an ace. Aleigha Burton contributed with 4 kills, 2 blocks, 2 aces, and a dig. Ally Goodman added 3 kills, 2 digs, and an ace, while Sienna Stout had 2 digs, a kill, and an ace. Additional contributors included Isis Edwards with a kill and a dig, Maci Ridenour with a dig and an ace, Blair Rossi with 3 kills, and Gracie Fox with a dig.
The A2 team emerged victorious, winning their match 2-1 by scores of 21-7, 19-21, and 18-16. Kayla Carey led the team with 7 aces and a kill. Macy Siroky added 3 aces and 3 kills, while Chloe Landgrebe chipped in with a kill and a dig. Kasie Deppe contributed 4 aces, and Emma Ross recorded a kill.
In the B1 match, the Indians lost 1-2, with scores of 18-21, 8-21, and 15-10. Phylicia Brooks led the team with 7 aces. April Potter added 2 aces and 3 kills, while Brooke Boertje had an assist and a kill. Taylor Wissler recorded 2 aces and a kill, and Lucy Gudith added 2 aces and 2 kills.
The B2 team also battled hard but fell 1-2 by scores of 21-23, 21-17, and 5-15. Kayin Luckey led the team with 5 aces and a kill, while Violet Rust contributed 4 aces and 2 kills. Bailey Sams added an ace and a kill, and Alexis Anderson recorded 2 aces.
The Indians will wrap up their season next week with back-to-back matches against Pella and a final home game following their last three practices.
