Indians Battle At Pella Invite

Pella, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Indians Boys Tennis team battled at the Pella Invite this past week, ending with a 5th place showing.

Coach Tony Witt commented about the efforts. “Cade [Snakenburg] and Colton [Stout] started off slow this morning and lost their first match of the day. They went into the consolation round where they won the next three matches to get 7th place overall in the doubles. A good finish for them.”

“Sam [Carmichael] and Carson [Milledge] lost both their matches,” added Witt. “Nick Reiter had a tough draw having to play the number 3 seed in his first match. He lost that match. He then lost a close second match to Albia.”

“Nick Harrington also had a tough draw with having to play the number four seed from Maharishi. He played a great match. He lost the first three games but battled back to win 8 out of the next nine games to win the match 8-4. It was a big upset and confidence boost for him,” said Witt. “He then continued his great playing and won his next match against Grinnell’s number one player 8-6. That win put him in the semifinals against the number 1 seed from Pella which he just lost to on Thursday. But Nick was a much different player today. He really pushed the number one seed today coming up just short in his loss.”

Harrington would finish in the 4th place.
