Harold Junior Wells
Oskaloosa. Harold Junior Wells, 77, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on May 3, 1933, in Mahaska County the son of Harold Linsey and Elsie Lucille (Tolles) Wells. Following school he went to work for Ideal Manufacturing in Oskaloosa. In 1952, he entered the United States Air Force and served our country during the Korean War. In 1956 he was honorably discharged from the Air Force. On June 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Nancy Dalzell at Traverse City, Michigan. They returned to Oskaloosa and Harold went back to work at Ideal Manufacturing until 1976. He then went to work at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella; he retired from there in the late 1990’s after 23 years of service. He was a member of the Eagles and V.F.W. in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed being outside and especially enjoyed tending to his large garden. He delighted in being with his family. He regularly attended the Assembly of God Church in Oskaloosa.
He is survived by his four children and their spouses: Gary and Silvia Wells of Denver, Colorado, Laura and Pat Russell of Oskaloosa, Trevor and Julie Wells of Oskaloosa, and Michelle and Greg Patton of Oskaloosa; 18 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and a special friend: Nancy Van Toorn of Oskaloosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter: Nora Ann (Wells) Crawford; and two brothers: David and Willis Wells.
Funeral services for Harold Wells will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Sean Cully officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Friday morning after 11 in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice Serenity House.
