GRINNELL’S AJINJERU IS MIDWEST CONFERENCE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Christine Ajinjeru ’14 has been named the Midwest Conference Women’s Track Performer of the Week.

Ajinjeru, from Kampala, Uganda (United World College Atlantic), had a big performance at Grinnell’s Dick Young Classic Saturday, winning the 400-meter dash in 60.13 seconds, a time that ranks second in the Midwest Conference and is fourth on Grinnell’s all-time chart.

She also helped the Pioneers’ 4×400 team run a school-record time of 4:03.82 and guided the 4×100 team to a runner-up finish.

The MWC Field Performer of the Week is Bailey Jackson of Monmouth College. Illinois College swept the men’s awards, as John Gerding was named the Track Performer of the Week and Caleb Cox the Field Performer of the Week.
