Green Adds 200 to List of Qualifying Races
Allendale, Mich./Naperville, Ill.–Gabriel Green (Jr., Anniston, Ala., Anniston HS) will get a chance to fight for NAIA glory in three events later this month as he and others competed in last chance meets Friday.
Green ran in the 200-meter dash at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Second-to-Last Chance Meet, while three other William Penn athletes were at the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) on the same day.
The junior had already qualified for nationals in the 100 and 400-meter dashes, but went for and succeeded in the sweep Friday. He eclipsed the NAIA’s ‘B’ mark with a fourth-place time of 21.55 seconds.
Green ran in the 100, but scratched in the finals after qualifying third with a time of 10.73 seconds.
William Penn was not as fortunate in Illinois. Audre Harris (So., Junction City, Kan., Allen CC) was ninth with a non-qualifying time of 15.46 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
Sam Taylor (Fr., Eddyville, Eddyville-Blakesburg HS) finished the 110-meter hurdles at 15.90 seconds (non-qualifying), while Jalen Wilson (Fr., Desoto, Texas, Duncanville HS) was unable to produce a result in the long jump. Already a national qualifier in the event, Wilson was only trying to get one more competition under his belt before leaving for Marion, Ind. in two weeks.
