Giger, Breeher Receive Honorable Mentions
Oskaloosa–Middle hitter Kylie Giger (Jr., Elkhart, Ind., Exercise Science) and libero Danielle Breeher (Jr., St. Louis, Mo., Undecided) both received acknowledgement for solid fall campaigns as the 2014 all-Midwest Collegiate Conference volleyball teams were announced today.
Giger and Breeher, who were leaders for William Penn (2-30, 0-6 MCC), joined 12 other players on the 14-person honorable-mention list. A total of 14 individuals earned first-team recognition as well.
Giger notched her second HM laurel by posting a team-high 295 kills with a .121 attack percentage. She also had 242 digs, 21 aces, 18 blocks (5 solo, 18 assists), and 14 assists during the season. The junior reached double figures in kills on 15 occasions and had eight double-doubles. She tallied a season-high 18 kills against Cardinal Stritch on September 12.
A first-time honoree, Breeher recorded 410 digs (24 double-digit showings) in addition to 43 assists, 26 aces, and ten kills. She managed a season-high 27 digs twice.
Viterbo swept the top honors with Alicia Olson grabbing the biggest one as Player of the Year for the third-straight season. Natalie Geidel (Newcomer), Brianna Brinkman (Setter), and Jennifer Krentz (Libero) also took home hardware, while Head Coach Ryan DeLong was lauded by his peers as Coach of the Year.
