Gail Darlene Sanders, 88, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, August 22, 2019, at MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Gail was born March 6, 1931, in Montezuma, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Mildred Greenley Sanders.

Gail graduated from Barnes City High School with the class of 1949.

On February 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Warren Sanders at Montezuma. Warren died May 2, 1997.

Early on Gail worked in the telephone office in Barnes City. She later worked at the old Continental Overall Factory. In the mid 1980’s, she went to work at Tower Park and Siesta Park Care Facilities doing laundry. In 1994, she went to work at Pleasant Park Care Center in Oskaloosa, she retired from there in 2002.

Gail enjoyed working on puzzles, sewing, and playing cards.

Her family includes her four children: Dallas Sanders of Leighton, Dale (& Connie) Sanders of Beacon, Daryl (& Theresa) Sanders of Oskaloosa, and Cindy Garrett of Des Moines; adopted daughter, Pam (& Jack) Taylor of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren: Jacque Taylor, Jesse Sanders, Amy Lynch, Nicole Anderson, Ronnie Sanders, Jacob Dalby, and Caleb Sanders; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Warren, Gail was preceded in death by her parents.

As was Gail’s wish her body has been cremated.
No services are planned at this time. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Gail’s urn will be buried in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City, next to her husband Warren.
