Friday After Five Fires Up Downtown Oskaloosa

Oskaloosa, Iowa- On one of the first real warm and muggy nights in Oskaloosa, Friday after Five kicked off the first of it’s events.
Gimikk cranked up the show while Papa Murphy’s had their tasty pizza available to the hungry party goers. Sno Biz was also on hand to help keep everyone cool.
Here are just a few comments residents had to say on what they thought about Friday After Five.
Darrin Alderson told Osky News, “Not too bad, a little warm, but not to bad. Any day without rain is a good day.”
Melinda Kinkade, recently back to the Oskaloosa area after working in the Branson area said, “It’s cool. I was excited to get to go because I’ve heard about it for years but has never been going on when I’ve been in town.”
Those that are of age have an opportunity to consume the adult beverage in a roped off area. Posse members watch to make sure the fun doesn’t go too far, and to this point, it’s been a pleasant experience for this group. Those not interested in that have pizza, and the bandstand area to lounge out in, talk with friends and neighbors, and enjoy the show.
Doug McMillan, who was on hand to enjoy a little “down time” and some friends went on to say, “It’s good, It’s great, music is too loud but I like it. At least it is cool.” But as most marriages go, there is some agreement and some difference of opinion as Mrs. McMillan agreed “It’s fun” but the difference comes to the thought on temperature when she told Osky News, “It’s Hot”. So the battle of the thermostat continues.
Ardean Vannatta told us, “The band is good, the food is good, and it is a nice night.”
Oskaloosa resident John Uchtman said that Friday After Five is “Awesome, Could be a little cooler. Sun is going down and there’s a breeze. Good band, lots of friends.”
But a common thought was that many wished this could go on all summer. Lori Brainard said, “It’s wonderful, I’ll be here every Friday.” Joe Beal told us nearly the same thing, “I like this! This is good. It should last every Friday all summer.”
