Freda Elaine Wilson, age 94, of Blakesburg, IA, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Freda was born on September 30, 1927, to Floyd and Osie (Kyler) Wood.

Freda grew up attending school in Moravia and graduated from the Moravia High School with the Class of 1944.

On March 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Wilson. Freda and Bill shared 67 years of marriage prior to Bill’s passing on July 8, 2015.

Freda was a homemaker her whole life. She also worked at Standard Coalsman in Ottumwa before owning and operating the Albia Doughnut Company in Albia.

Freda was very active in the Blakesburg community, where she sat on different boards, including the Blakesburg Historical Preservation Society and the Blakesburg Corn Carnival committee. She was a member of the Blakesburg Methodist Church.

Freda enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and quilting. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, pool, and Shanghai. She loved to visit with others and never knew a stranger. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially her great granddaughter, Clara.

Freda is survived by her son, Jim Wilson; her grandson, Jake (Sarah) Wilson; her great granddaughter, Clara Wilson; a brother, Keith (Susie) Wood; and her niece and nephew, David and Diane.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Floyd and Osie; her daughter-in-law, Debbie Wilson; and her brother, Duane Wood.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Eagles Club in Albia.
A private family burial will be held at Eslinger Cemetery at a later date.
