First team all-region D3hoops honors for Central’s Taylor

PELLA — After being on the third team for two years, Central College men’s basketball forward Colby Taylor (senior, Creston) landed on the D3hoops.com All-West Region first team Monday.

The Iowa Conference leader in scoring (21.0 ppg) and rebounds (7.8 rpg), Taylor guided the Dutch through an injury-riddled 16-12 campaign. The school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,856 points, Taylor is 39th nationally with 560 points and fifth with a 92.5 percent mark from the charity stripe.

Taylor was also the D3hoops.com All-West Region Rookie of the Year in 2013-14. He’s one of six Iowa Conference players on the three all-region teams and is joined by Nebraska Wesleyan sophomore Cooper Cook on the first team.
