First-Ever Puppets in the Park Presents: Award-Winning Puppeteer Liz Joyce
Oskaloosa, IA — 8/29/25 — The Uplifting Puppet Company is delighted to announce the first-ever event in its new community puppetry series, Puppets in the Park, featuring the internationally recognized puppeteer Liz Joyce.
Join us on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Woodhaven Amphitheatre in University Park for an enchanting afternoon of puppetry, storytelling, and live performance. This is a pay-what-you-can event, ensuring that everyone in the community has the opportunity to experience world-class puppetry.
Liz Joyce, director of A Couple of Puppets and founder of Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre in Sag Harbor, New York, has been captivating audiences for decades with her inventive puppetry, whimsical storytelling, and award-winning artistry. Her Oskaloosa performance, The Doubtful Sprout, is a playful ecological adventure that takes children and families underground with Worm and Sprout as they discover the hidden magic of soil, roots, and growth. With stunning projections, handcrafted puppets, and original songs, Joyce brings this underground world to life in unforgettable ways.
“We are honored to bring Liz Joyce to Oskaloosa for the first-ever Puppets in the Park,” says Brant Bollman, Artistic Director of the Uplifting Puppet Company and Oskaloosa’s own purveyor of puppetry. “She is among the most talented puppeteers working today, and her performance is the perfect way to launch this new community tradition.”
Puppets in the Park is presented by the Uplifting Puppet Company with support from the George Daily Auditorium, as part of UPC’s mission to cultivate joy, creativity, and community through the puppetry arts.
