Farm to Table to be held
ISU Mahaska County Extension and Outreach and Mahaska County Farm Bureau are again partnering to host the third annual Farm to Table dinner. This event highlights local farmers and embraces the importance of knowing where our food comes from. It is a great community event that is open to the public. It will be in Bradbury Hall at the Nelson Pioneer Farm on Wednesday June 26, 2024. Tickets are available until June 7 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/farm-to-table-dinner-oskaloosa-iowa-tickets-867502402037 or our office.Mahaska County 4-H Honor Council members are an important partner in this effort as well. This is a group of 8th – 12th grade 4-H members who provide leadership for 4-H activities, participate in community events, and provide community service throughout the county. The Honor Council uses this as a fundraiser to offset costs of their community events.
Through this meal, we wish to highlight the wonderful products and talents of local producers. The Farm to Table meal will provide a connection between our local farmers and the community. Our menu will feature a full meal made up of ingredients sourced locally. We will have Bison and Frisian Farms Cheese appetizers, an entree of meat from local farms, dessert of local Farmers Market fruits and Honey, and Tassel Ridge Grape Juice. Music provided by Sean Six.
Menu
First Course: Sweet and Sour Bison Meatballs – Savor the rich flavor of freshly ground, farm-raised bison from Barnyard Bison, perfectly balanced with an Asian-inspired sweet and sour sauce. Topped with the unique flavor of Frisian Farms black pepper gouda cheese, this salad is dressed with a tangy sesame lime dressing made with honey from our local farms, creating a perfect harmony of flavors.
Third Course: Duo Entrée:

The dish is completed with glazed Lanman Farms carrots, providing a sweet and savory balance that enhances the natural flavors of the locally sourced beef.
