Eddyville finishes 9th in Class 1A Wrestling

High School Sports Action on KIIC

The 2012 Wrestling season closed on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena with Eddyville-Blakesburg finishing in the top 10. Eddyville pushed a record 11 wrestlers out of Sectionals and then 7 out of Districts on to State. Rocket grappler Brett Roberts made it to the championship bout in weight class 170 but lost to his opponent Brendan Schott (North-Linn, Troy Mills) who remained unbeaten on the season at 49-0 besting Roberts by a 9-3 decision. Roberts earns a statewide 2nd place in 1A-170. Sigourney-Keota also finished in the top of the pack in 26th as a team out of 86 1A schools competing.
