EBHS Jazz Band Earns Division I Rating at State

Eddyville-Blakesburg Schools

On Saturday, January 28th, the Eddyville / Blakesburg High School Jazz Band earned a division I rating at the State Jazz Band Contest in Muscatine. EBHS Jazz I received a division I rating from all three judges in the performance center and also earned a division I rating in the sight reading portion of the contest. The band has earned a division I rating nine of the last eleven years. E.B.H.S. Jazz I is directed by Joe Overton. The band has 24 members this year.

The next competition for the band will be at the Indianola Jazz Encounter at Indianola High School on February 18th. On February 25th the band will compete at the Indian Hills Jazz Festival and on March 3rd, the band will compete at the SEIBA District Jazz Contest in Iowa City. The annual Jazz Band Concert will be on March 15th at 7:00. Friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend.
