William Penn University’s College for Working Adults was established 15 years ago with the mission to provide an educational opportunity, especially to those that do not have access to a traditional education. One of the valuable faculty members present for the launch of this program was Dr. Ronald E. Johnson. Dr. Ron, as he was referred to by his students, later helped to develop the Master of Business Leadership (MBL), for which he taught several classes. It was in these classes that he went above and beyond his duties as a professor by serving his students as a mentor, a friend, and an advisor.

Dr. Ron recently celebrated his retirement at the Salisbury House & Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa. It was at this party that former students and colleagues announced the establishment of an endowed scholarship in his honor.

The funds from the Dr. Ron Johnson Endowed Scholarship will be available to Master of Business Leadership students at William Penn University. Currently, this is the only scholarship offered to students in the MBL program, so financial support for this scholarship is greatly appreciated. Those in charge of this scholarship have raised $2,400 with a goal of reaching $10,000 which will ensure a scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a deserving Masters of Business Leadership student each year. Those interested to contributing to the Dr. Ron Johnson Scholarship can do so by selecting the Support Penn tab on the William Penn University website, www.wmpenn.edu, or by contacting the Office of Advancement at 641-673-1044.
