Dorothy Reams, 77 of Montezuma passed away Sunday evening, November 7, 2021 at the Montezuma Specialty Care in Montezuma. Dorothy Kay Reams, the daughter of Fred and Gretchen (Butler) Beck, was born on November 16, 1943 in Grinnell, Iowa.
Dorothy was one of four sisters and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1961.
On November 19, 1961, Dorothy was united in marriage to Ronald James Reams at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Malcom, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Paula, Phillip and Julie.
They made their home in Ewart, Iowa and Dorothy was a homemaker and helped Ronnie with their business, Reams Ag. Service, while raising their children. She also worked part-time at the Apple Basket Restaurant in Montezuma for awhile and later worked at Brownell’s for seven years.
Dorothy loved her family and grandchildren and attended many of their activities. She had fun playing bingo at Meskwaki, going to garage sales, collecting Tweety Bird items, camping, attending the Iowa State Fair, watching Wheel of Fortune on TV and going to the Depot for Pepsi with her girls.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Paula Corbin of Montezuma, Phillip (DeeAnn Moellers) Reams of Montezuma, and Julie Theis of Montezuma; her grandchildren, Austin (Kari) Reams, Nathan Reams, Macie (Daniel Hagen) Reams, Cassandra Corbin, Kaylene Corbin, Cole Corbin, Jared (Paige Robison) Theis and Justine Theis; her great grandchildren, Layla, Landen, Stella and Ronnie; her sisters, Franny (Pete) Sisco of Florida and Gini (Larry) Van Ersvelde of Grinnell; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Reams; her parents, Fred and Gretchen Beck, in-laws, Ralph and Clara Reams, and half- sister, Erma Schaffer.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Burial will be held in the Pleasant Township Cemetery in Ewart.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Fire Department.
