Beacon. Doris Bushey, 63, of Beacon, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines. She was born December 20, 1946, at Oskaloosa the daughter of (Leo) Melvin and Betty J. Knox Clark. On October 15, 1970, she was united in marriage to Robert Bushey at San Diego, California. Robert was in the United States Navy for his career and that took the two of them on extensive travels around the world. They lived in San Diego and Coronado, California for a time. They later moved to Annapolis, Maryland, where she worked at the Navy Exchange. Then the Navy moved them to Newfoundland, Canada, where Doris did Childcare. Lastly she worked at the Office Center in Oskaloosa, retiring from there in 2005. She enjoyed artistic woodburning, crocheting, bird watching, gardening and growing house plants. She truly enjoyed going fishing with Bob every chance she could.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Robert Bushey of Beacon; her son and his wife: Danny and Pattie Bushey of Beacon; her daughter: Barbara Jean Bushey Whaley of Oskaloosa; a grandson: Robert Joseph Pray; and a sister: Marcia Clark of Chillicothe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother: Dennis “Shorty” Clark.

Funeral services for Doris Bushey will be held Tuesday, September, 21, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday after 10 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel and some of the family will be at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 –7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Pulmonary Research or Cancer Research.
