Davis Horn, 74, of Des Moines and formerly of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, at University Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Des Moines. Davis Laverne Horn, son of Erit and Hattie Maria (Davis) Horn, was born December 1, 1941, in Barnes City, Iowa.

Davis was cared for by his mother until age five, at which time he enrolled in Glenwood State Hospital and School in Southeast Iowa. For the last 30 years of his life, he resided at University Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Des Moines. Unfortunately, Davis was never able to speak, but he was always happy to see his family and communicated this through facial expression and touch.

His family includes his sisters: Velma (& Roger) Witt of Bristol, ND, Shirley Van Dee of Richland, IA and Linda Horn of Oskaloosa; brothers: Robert (& Mary) Horn of Arkansas and Randy (& Sharon) Horn of Oskaloosa; a sister-in-law, Marie Horn of Oskaloosa; a brother-in-law, Jon Baxter of Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Davis was preceded in death by two sisters: Lola Baxter and Marilyn Gibson; and a brother, Richard Horn.

Private family services will be held at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel.
His body will be cremated, and burial of his ashes will be in Union Mills Cemetery near New Sharon.
