David Bair, 76 of New Sharon passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 5, 2022 at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. David Lee Bair, the son of Ward and Pauline (Davis) Bair, was born on May 9, 1946 in Montezuma, Iowa.

Dave attended grade school in Barnes City and Montezuma before graduating from North Mahaska High School in 1964. He then attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines receiving his associates degree in business.

On September 15, 1967, Dave was united in marriage to Diana Bond. To this union three daughters were born, Angela, Stacia and Lindsa.

Dave worked at GTE in Grinnell starting in the finance department and working his way up to human resources then retiring from the central toll investigations department in 2000. In 2002, Dave and Diana started a new adventure together, Beyond Elegance, working side by side for the last 20 years with the help of their daughters starting from scratch and building it to a very successful family business.

Being an outdoorsman, Dave loved fishing, hunting, gardening and golfing. He also played fast pitch softball, enjoyed bowling, NASCAR; especially watching Dale Earnhart Sr., having coffeetime at Pronto and his dogs.

Dave and Diana enjoyed camping at the Iowa State Fair for the last 50 plus years. His biggest joy was his family and spending time with them. Dave was privileged to coach his daughters softball teams when they were younger. He was also known for making homemade noodles and custard pies.

Dave was a member of the Prairie Knolls Country Club, the New Sharon Jaycees, he served on the New Sharon City Council, was on the New Sharon Spring Festival Committee and was a member of the New Sharon United Methodist Church.

Dave’s legacy will be cherished by his wife of 55 years, Diana Bair of New Sharon; his daughters: Angela (& John) Livezey of New Sharon, Stacia (& Matt) Burns of Norwalk and Lindsa (& Justin) Snyder of Pella; his 10 grandchildren: Ashley (& Kevin) Broadway, Airianne (& Brad) Vonk, Colton (& Lexi Johnston) Livezey, Ally Livezey, Peyton Burns, Zach Burns, Reese Burns, Wyatt Snyder, Chole Snyder and Finley Snyder; six great grandchildren: Jackson Broadway, Clara Broadway, Maggie Broadway, Brynn Vonk, Avery Vonk and Isabel Vonk; a brother, Jim (& Mary) Bair of Grinnell; two sisters-in-law, Donna Bair and Bobbie Bair; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Bair and Robert “Bob” Bair.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Monday, October 10, 2022 at the New Sharon United Methodist Church.
Burial will be held in the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the New Sharon United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Dave’s honor.
