Oskaloosa, Iowa- Head Football Coach Mark Schilb took the time to speak to local media after his teams victory on Friday.”I’ve never seen as many injuries and cramping in all my years of coaching in playing, and we had guys just going down left and right and really just threw us off as far as personnel. We had kids out of position, once they got the momentum, you know they started playing with a lot of confidence. That quarterback’s only gonna get better, and he’s made some great plays. We gotta learn from this. The first half was going away, and physically we just broke down. It’s on me. I gotta get our guys conditioned and be able to play four quarters,” said Schilb.

Schilb also talked about the final play of the game, a hook and lateral play that resulted in a game winning score for Oskaloosa. “Just something that you know we ran this summer. Austin Redlich made a fantastic play. He ran that curl route with an inside leverage corner and it was a perfect pass and he had the hands and the know how to catch it with his hands and just get it flipped back. Drew, I mean I figured if Drew could turn the corner, he could try and make the play. He cut back on the safety, that was over the top, and then took it all the way. It was like I said. I’ve never been a part of a half like that.”

Schilb also continued on his thoughts about the game. “First half, we were really rolling offensively and again, we wore out. We got tired. We broke down. We had big plays but we couldn’t hold onto the ball and keep it going. Give their defense credit. We had ’em going there to kind of seal the deal and we fumbled the football. Can’t do that. We can’t beat ourselves like that. When it’s all set and done, I talked to the guys about playing four quarters all the time, and it went down to the last play,” he said.

The Indians will play their next home game on September 9th at 7:30 PM in New Community Stadium.
