Central’s Jackson wins league honor
PELLA—Central College’s Drew Jackson (freshman, Johnston) is the Iowa Conference track event athlete of the week for men’s indoor track and field.
Jackson won two events in his collegiate debut at the Dutch Athletics Classic Friday. He took the Mile in four minutes, 30.31 seconds, edging Graceland’s Etalson Kabura by two seconds, and claimed the 1,000 meters in 2:41.10 seconds, escaping teammate Ben Schornack (junior, Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) by one-hundredth of a second.
The Dutch captured the team title, racking up 258 points in the five-team field. William Penn University placed second with 74.
Central travels to Waverly Saturday for the Wartburg Select Invitational.
