Central’s DeRocher picked for second all-region baseball team

PELLA — For the second time in as many days, Central College baseball right fielder Colton DeRocher (junior, Sioux City, East HS) was selected for an all-region squad as he named to the All-Region 9 second team by the American Baseball Coaches Association Tuesday.

DeRocher had previously been chosen for the third team all-region squad by D3baseball.com on Monday. He was a third team all-region choice by the ABCA in 2022.

The team’s primary right fielder, DeRocher had a .380 batting average and slugged .660. He led the team in doubles (16), home runs (8) and RBI (38) while starting in 38 of 39 games. He was also second on the team with 34 runs scored.

Since 1990, DeRocher becomes just the fifth member of the Dutch program to be a two-time ABCA All-Region selection. He joins catcher Adam Duerfeldt (2005-06), outfielder Jared Lackey (2009-10, pitcher Judson McKown (2013-14) and shortstop Garrett Saunders (2018-19).

Central finished its season 15-24 overall and 8-16 in the American Rivers Conference.
