CEDAR RAPIDS—The Central College volleyball team’s five-match winning streak was snapped Friday night in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-19 setback at Coe College Friday night. 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.

Central (9-9 overall, 3-2 Iowa Conference) got off to a slow start,l according to coach Kent Clayberg.

“We were timid coming out of the gate in the first set and we were unable to change that mentality,” he said.

Middle hitter Jenna Dille (junior, Carlisle) led the Dutch attack with 13 kills while hitting .500.

“Jenna was outstanding tonight,” said Clayberg. “Jenna was aggressive throughout the night and was very powerful. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get her more opportunities to attack.”

Setter Chapel Carter (sophomore, Colorado Springs, Colo., Coronado HS) had 28 assists. Outside hitter Kylie Gerstein (junior, Iowa Falls, Iowa Falls-Alden HS) had a team-high16 digs and added three kills.

Coe improved to 16-7 overall and 14-7 in the league.

Central turns its attention to league foe Buena Vista University and the season’s final home match Tuesday night. The Beavers visit P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
