Central Students Compete in Theatre Festival

Four Central College students will compete in the Kennedy American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) Jan 22-28 in Des Moines. The festival celebrates the top work of college theater programs and encourages universities to pursue excellent and diverse productions. C.D. Adamson, assistant professor of theatre, serves this year as the festival’s associate coordinator of musical theatre.
Central’s competitors in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition include juniors Ben Rockswold from Plato, Minn., and Anne Coughenour from Holland, Mich., nominated for their performances in “Boeing-Boeing.” Senior Ian Loyd of Austin, Tex., was nominated for his performance in “The Book Club Play” and will also compete. Central students Ryan Jones and K.E. Daft will also participate as the competitors’ scene partners.
In addition, Central’s production of “Boeing-Boeing,” directed by Adamson, won an invitation for Rockswold and junior Devin McCain of Pella to perform a scene at the festival showcase.
