Central College

PELLA—Chris Coffman, a 1996 Central College graduate, has been named to the Iowa High School Athletic Association Football Hall of Fame.

A tight end for the Dutch, Coffman was a three-year letterwinner. He helped Central capture two Iowa Conference championships and post a 28-3 overall record, losing just one regular season game. Coffman tallied 224 receiving yards and scored two touchdowns. He started nine games and averaged 11.2 yards per catch and 17.2 yards per game.

Coffman was an all-state rusher and defensive player in high school at Sigourney and Sigourney-Keota. He racked up 5,096 rushing yards, 74 touchdowns and 490 points in his prep career, placing in the top three of each category in Class 2A when he graduated. Coffman is the first player from his school to be recognized.

Coffman, now a head baseball coach and assistant football coach at Grinnell High School, will be honored with five other former players at halftime of the Class 4A championship game Friday, Nov. 16 at Cedar Falls.
