Central’s Paulson third at Carleton women’s golf tourney

NORTHFIELD, MINN.—Holding a one-shot lead after the opening round, Central College junior Sarah Paulson (Ottumwa) placed third at the Carleton (Minn.) Spring Invitational women’s golf tournament Saturday.

Paulson shot 79-84—163 at the par-72 Northfield Golf Club. Ali Miller (junior, Davenport, North HS) finished 36th in the 53-player field at 101-88—189.

“Sarah didn’t get up and down as much as she did yesterday and she had trouble with a few holes,” coach Tim Wilkinson said. “She’s a little disappointed but she still grinded it out and managed to put together a decent round. And Ali played much better today, especially in her putting.”

The two golfers will compete at the Blugold Spring Invitational Saturday and Sunday in Eau Claire, Wis. at the Wild Ridge Golf Course.

“It’ll be another meet of good competition with some of the best teams in our region,” coach Wilkinson said.
