Carolyn Jane McKim age 78, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. Jane was born on August 21, 1943, to Leonard G and Pearl (Pettyjohn) Goemaat of Lovilla.
Carolyn grew up and attended school in Lovilla.
In 1962, Carolyn married Harold McKim. They had 6 kids: Rodger, Harold Jr., Leonard, Kimberly, Tammy, and Kelly.
Jane worked at Monroe County Hospital. She then worked at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia. She also worked at the White Buffalo until her retirement.
Carolyn loved drinking coffee and having a cigarette with her family and friends. She loved to go camping and fishing. She also loved going to watch races. Above all else, Jane enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a very loving and caring person and family was everything to her.
For the past seven months, she lived at Mill Pond in Ankeny. The workers there became a second family to Jane. They enjoyed many laughs and activities together.
Jane is survived by her 6 children: Rodger (Vicky) McKim of Des Moines, Harold Jr. (Roylyn) McKim of Pleasantville, Leonard McKim, Kimberly (Mike) Coop of Ankeny, Tammy (Dustin) Post of Albia, and Kelly McKim of Albia; 11 grandchildren: Stacey Baucom, Doug (Meghan) McKim, Molly (John Martin) McKim, Meghan Coop, Austin Coop, Steven (Dana) McKim, Brittany Post, Katlynn Post, Nathaniel Kaisand, Joshua Kaisand, Cassandra (James) Long; 11 great grandchildren: Lucas, Mason, Weston, Donnie, Isaiah, Seth, Olivia, Steven Jr., Carson, Gabriel, and Mathew; a brother, Junior Goemaat; and a brother-in-law, Doc DeMoss. Carolyn is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents, Leonard G and Pearl; 3 siblings: Iverna DeMoss, Hazel Ethel, and Chet Goemaat; 1 sister-in-law, Arlene Goemaat; 1 brother-in-law, Steven Ethel Sr.; and 1 infant great grandchild, Mathew Phipps.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Jane’s family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Brad Gray officiating.
Following services, Jane’s body will be cremated.
After the service, a luncheon will be held at the First Christian Church in Albia.
Burial will follow the luncheon at Selection Cemetery in rural Albia.
In lieu of flowers, an open memorial has been established to Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny.
