Carol Davis, 72 of Clive passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Carol Ann Davis, the daughter of Warner “Huck” and Mary (Ratliff) Wagaman, was born on April 18, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Carol graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School in 1967. Carol excelled in basketball at Lynnville-Sully and started all four years. During her junior and senior years, she averaged over 35 points a game and took her team to the state tournament. Carol received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Drake University.
On August 22, 1970, Carol was united in marriage to Don Davis at the Lynnville Friends Church. To this union one son was born, Scott.
Carol began student teaching at North High School before teaching shorthand, typing and business classes at East High School in Des Moines for seven years. They moved to Coral Springs, Florida in 1984 and purchased a printing company. Carol ran that for five years before finding her passion of decorating and event planning. She loved being an event planner and was exceptionally good at it. While her husband Don pursued a business venture in Denver, CO, Carol bought and flipped two houses in the mountains. They then purchased a house in Waukee in 2007, and moved in after an extensive remodel.
Carol was very creative and had an eye and talent for design. She loved staying busy and always had a house project to work on. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Mahjong and looking for treasures with Michael. Carol was extremely involved with her son, Scott, and all his friends who refer to her as their second mom. Ever since her granddaughter, Mia, was born she has been Carol’s life. Carol and Mia shared an unbreakable bond. She devoted her time to Mia’s activities and spending time with her. Carol also enjoyed cooking big Sunday meals for her chosen family.
Carol’s legacy will be honored by her husband of 50 years, Don Davis of Clive; her son, Scott (& Kindra) Davis of Waukee; her loving granddaughter, Mia Davis of Waukee; cousins, Lori (& Dave) Herring of Boston and Deb Eckler of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death her parents.
A visitation and reception with a light dinner served will be held in the Des Moines Golf and Country Club from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, June 6, 2021.
A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation beginning around 7:00 pm on Sunday.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Woodland Cemetery in Lynnville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amanda the Panda and Young Women’s Resource Center.
Holland-Coble Funeral Home of New Sharon is in charge of arrangements.
