Cardinals Top 7th Grade Indians

The 7th grade boys basketball team took on the Newton Cardinals in a 3 game set Monday evening.

In the A game in the first quarter Indians were tied 7-7 in a defensive struggle. In the 2nd quarter the Cardinals widened the gap and took a 25-12 halftime lead. The 3rd quarter would find Newton stretching the lead to 18. Though the Indians made a late run it wasn’t enough and the Cardinals prevailed 42-27.

In the B game the Indians found it hard to stop Newton from scoring but matched them basket for basket several times during the game. The Indians trailed 16-9 at the end of the first quarter and cut it to 17-11 by halftime. Once again the Cardinals would pull away in the 3rd quarter and led by 15. The Indians would make another late run but fell 32-21.

In the C game it was all Newton 50-3.
The Indians wrap up their season on the road against Grinnell Thursday evening.
