Branstad and Grassley To Host Town Hall Meetings

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Town hall meetings are a good way for residents to hear and interact with their elected officials, and two major stops are in the near future for Oskaloosa.

Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds will be hosting a town hall meeting Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 3:30 pm inside Smokey Row.

Tim Albrecht, Director of Communications for Governor Branstad said the Governor will be discussing, “The State’s burdensome property taxes, and his solution to stave off the $2.3 billion property tax increase that looms for Iowa in the next 8 years.”

Albrecht said the Governor will also be addressing “the other 3 points of his 4-point plan of action outlined in his Condition of the State address last month.”

The other is from Senator Chuck Grassley will be in Oskaloosa, February 23, 2012 from 10:45 to 11:45 in the 3rd floor meeting rooms of the Oskaloosa Public Library.

“I’m coming to Mahaska County to answer questions and listen to concerns. Holding a meeting in every county, every year is an important way for me to keep in touch with you.”

“Again, please plan to come if you’re able. Let your friends and neighbors know, too. Representative government depends on dialogue between elected officials and the people they represent, and I want to hear from you.”
