Billy Joe Ojanguren, 33, of Oskaloosa, died Friday, May 19, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. He was born June 8, 1989, in Bethany, Kansas.

At a young age Billy was adopted by Brent and Tammy Lara Ojanguren.

Billy graduated from Ottawa (Kansas) High School with the class of 2008.

Following high school, Billy worked for a construction company doing roofing and restoration in Baldwin City, Kansas. In 2017, he moved to Iowa and worked for a time at Karl Chevrolet detailing vehicles. He later owned and operated Bulldog Roofing and Restoration, and lastly owned and operated 357 Home Restoration Company.

Billy enjoyed Fox Racing, camouflage, collecting Oakley Sunglasses, going to craft shows with Jaci and tinkering in the garage. He also enjoyed trying new recipes on the smoker.

His family includes his significant other, Jacqueline Skarda of Oskaloosa; his dog Dolly; Jaci’s parents, Leon and Sherry Veldhuizen of New Sharon; his sisters and their husbands, Bonnie (& Royce) Wiley of Ottawa, Kansas and Linda (& Robert) Wilks of Lawrence, Kansas; and nieces and nephews: Ben Wiley, Ethan Wilks, Ayden Wilks, Brooklyn Wilks, and Chloe Wilks; and his father, Brent Ojanguren of Kansas.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Tammy Ojanguren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Daryl Bouwkamp officiating.
As was Billy’s wish his body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Friday from 1-3p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
