Beasley Tabbed as Player of the Week

Oskaloosa–Brandon Beasley (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind., Physical Education) made quite a return from a season lost to injury as he claimed the first Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award today.

Beasley earned his first career laurel by posting back-to-back double-doubles to pace the #19 Statesmen cagers (2-0) to wins over Morningside (93-83) and Briar Cliff (78-72).

The senior, who suffered a season-ending injury in last year’s preseason, began his final collegiate campaign with a 17-point, ten-rebound effort against the Mustangs. He was 6-of-15 from the field and 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.

He was even better the following night versus the Chargers with 25 points (8-of-17 FG, 9-of-17 FT) and 11 rebounds. He also topped the navy and gold with three blocks in addition to three steals and two assists.
