OSKALOOSA, IA — The Daily Arts Academy, the George Daily Auditorium’s after school theatre program, returns with a new spooky Halloween-inspired session.
“This first session is geared towards performance,” said Andy McGuire, Youth Director of the program. “The focus will be the classic theatre experience from audition to production.”
Classes begin on Monday, September 23 and run through Friday, October 18. All sessions are split into two packages according to age and grade. The red camp, for grades 1 – 3, meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Price is $50 per session. The blue camp meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for grades 4 – 8 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. and costs $70 per session. Camps will meet from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. on days with early outs.
In the spirit of the Halloween season, campers will be performing an original script about a girl who is visited by spooky visitors called shadow people.
“Youth Theatre lets you be yourself,” said Madie Holle, a 7th grade camper “It also helps you get much better at theatre.”
At the end of the four-week session, a performance will be open to parents and the community on October 18th. Blue camp will perform at 6:00 p.m. with the red camp performing at 6:30 p.m.
“Theatre isn’t theatre without performing,” said McGuire. “We’ve done a lot of camps focused on building in the past few months and this is an opportunity to give our talented campers a different way to be involved.”
Registration and payment will be accepted until the first day of class.
