Another Central grad joins athletic training staff

PELLA — Former Central College softball player and recent graduate Sadie Baugher ’19, is remaining on campus to serve as an assistant athletic trainer.

Baugher completed her bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Central in May while playing softball for four seasons.

While at Central, Baugher served as the President of the Club Associated with Athletic Training Students (CAATs) in 2018-19 and on the leadership board for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) for two years. Additionally she is a member of the Iowa Athletic Training Assocoation (IATS), Mid-American Athletic Training Association (MAATA) and the National Athletic Training Association (NATA).

Interning with Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy in 2018, Baugher observed and performed rehabilitative techniques on patients. During her time as an athletic training student, Baugher worked with Central’s football, volleyball, softball, wrestling, track and field and women’s soccer programs. She also worked as a first responder during summer athletic camps.

“As a staff, we’re thrilled to have her,” head athletic trainer Frank Neu said. “Sadie absolutely bleeds Central Red, she loves this place and is going to love working here. We’re happy to have her.”

Baugher has started on the job already and will begin working with the cross country teams when they report for camp in August.
