Alicia Louise Swaim, age 59, of Fremont, Iowa, passed away on April 3, 2023, at her home in Fremont. She was born on November 2, 1963, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Janet Leaper.

Alicia attended school in Ottumwa and later received her G.E.D.

She was united in marriage to Mike Swaim. They later divorced.

Alicia worked with disabled individuals in Newton until the organization she worked for closed its doors. After an injury left her unable to return to work, she remained at home to take care of her family.

Alicia enjoyed listening to music, art and collecting rocks. Her real joy in life was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Nicole Kimpton of Ottumwa and Shauntel (& Cory) Thompson of Ottumwa; her grandchildren: Wyatt Starks, Dylan Woten, Ian Woten, Ethan Woten and Arianna Williams, all of Ottumwa; her mother, Janet Leaper; a brother, Skip Arona of Oskaloosa; a sister, Kathy Bucklin of New Sharon.

Alicia was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Mike Swaim and her step-father, Gale Purdum.

As was her wish, Alicia’s body will be cremated and there are no services planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
