Adams Begins Senior Year with All-Tourney Award
Wauwatosa, Wis.–Stephanie Adams (Sr., Souris, Manitoba, Business Management) started her final collegiate campaign with a big performance as the Statesmen women’s bowling team opened the year at the Midwest Championships Saturday and Sunday.
William Penn finished 12th out of 30 teams at the Tier 1 event with 8,254 pins in six regular games and 16 Baker games. Grand View was first with 8,943 pins, including having the top individual qualifier in Rebecca Broerman at 216.7 (1,300 pins).
Adams was not far behind, placing fifth out of 211 bowlers with a 202.2 average (1,213 pins). The senior’s efforts earned her all-tournament recognition.
Bailey Palmer (Fr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Undecided) was next in her Statesmen debut, ending up 41st with a 183.3 clip in six starts.
The trio of Amber Ovel (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Business Management) (185.4 avg.), Audra Farley (Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Education) (174.8 avg.), and Briell Newberry (Jr., Holland, Mich., Elementary Education) (166.4 avg.) all started five games, while Cybil Lennie (Jr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Human Services) (157), Kayla Gifford (Fr., Camanche, Iowa, Biology) (149), and Nicole Craft (Fr., Wakefield, Neb., Physical Education) (148) competed in one game each.
Next Up: William Penn travels to Indianapolis, Ind. next Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Storm Western Shootout.
