Hafner, Coertze Win August-September POM Awards

Oskaloosa–The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced the recipients of August and September’s Player of the Month awards.

Senior football player Tyler Hafner (Oskaloosa, Iowa, Communications) won the Male award, while senior women’s golfer Demi Coertze (Johannesburg, South Africa, Digital Communication) won the Female honor.

The accolade is the first for Hafner, while Coertze has now been honored four times in her career.

Hafner, who paced WPU to a pair of wins over top-10 teams, began the fall rushing for 297 yards and five scores and also throwing for 600 yards and seven touchdowns. He was a one-time Heart of America Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

In four events (six rounds), Coertze owned a 77.2 stroke average. She had five rounds in the 70s, highlighted by a career-low even-par 72. The senior won one tournament and placed in the top six on three other occasions.
