Rose Eveland, 88, of Oskaloosa passed away early Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015, at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Rosemary Eveland, daughter of Harlan and Mary (Mansfield) Potter, was born, October 11, 1926, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Rose was a 1944 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. She married Paul Eveland, July 7, 1945, in Gulf Port, Mississippi, while Paul was serving with the Army Air Force. Rose returned to Oskaloosa while Paul was called to active duty.

Upon Paul”s discharge they joined his parents in the family farming operation. Rose was a fulltime homemaker until 1969, when she took a position as a teller at Mahaska State Bank. She eventually was promoted to supervisor at the Motor Bank. She retired from fulltime work in 1989, although continued for another 5 years in a part-time capacity.

Rose was a member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, the American Legion Auxiliary, where she had served as president, the Eagles Auxiliary and was a lifetime member of the Mahaska Historical Society. Rose served as a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville, Iowa for 18 years.

Rose loved to bowl. She participated in six different national bowling conventions and several state and national bowling tournaments. She also enjoyed traveling, camping, and gardening.

Her family includes her husband, Paul, of Oskaloosa and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Layne Clinton Eveland, who passed away March 21, 1976; twin daughters, Debra Kay and Donna Mae, who died at birth; two sisters: Betty Patik and Pat Woods; a brother, William Potter; and and a nephew, Mike Patik.

Funeral services for Rose will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015, at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Alvern Boetsma of the Good News Chapel officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday at the funeral chapel; the family will be present from 5-7 p.m. to greet visitors.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
