William Penn University will welcome David E. Wolfe on Tuesday, April 7 as the 2015 Beane Lecture Series guest speaker. Wolfe will be giving two lectures, both of which will be open to the public. His first lecture will be held at 11:15 am. in the Chief Mahaska Room in the Dana Atkins Memorial Union. It is titled, “Dialogue Across the Boundaries of Faith: Peacemaking—the Final Frontier.” His second lecture, titled “Meaning and Significance of the Modern Mantra: Spiritual But Not Religious!” will be held at the Musco Technology Center at 7:00 pm.

Wolfe is a recorded Friends minister and has held various ministerial positions since graduating from the Earlham School of Religion (ESR) in 1978. He currently serves as the Director of Chaplaincy at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He and his wife, Linda, recently served a term of service with the Mennonite Central Committee in Qom, Iraq. He also serves as a member of University Friends Meeting in Wichita, Kansas.

In addition to their service, Wolfe and his wife were both speakers and presenters in FWCC’s Salt and Light Series, sharing their concerns for interfaith dialogue and hospitality in Philadelphia at the FWCC annual meeting in conjunction with the Jamaica Yearly Meeting sessions. For his service, Wolfe was elected as a board member for the Clarence and Lily Pickett Endowment for Quaker Leadership in 2012. His areas of interests include spiritual formation, interfaith dialogue, and current events.

The Beane Lecture Series was established through an endowment by Ercil and Maxine Beane in 2008 to develop programs that engage students, faculty, and the community in discussions about Quaker principles and philosophies. Through that endowment, a guest speaker is brought to William Penn University each year to share Quaker teachings and values with members of the school and surrounding community. William Penn University is pleased to welcome David E. Wolfe for the 2015 edition of the Beane Lecture Series.
