The 2008 and 2010 Midwest League Coach of the Year, Hafner was also the recipient of the VSN NAIA Coach of the Year and the NFCA Region 2 Coach of the Year honors in 2010. As skipper, he has produced 139 all-conference players and 14 All-Americans.

Hafner graduated from Pittsburg State in 1994.

William Penn rallied past Olivet Nazarene for a 17-13 Midwest League win on Senior Day last Saturday.

The Statesmen were limited to six yards in the first quarter and fell behind 13-0 midway through the second quarter.

Fortunately, a forced fumble got things going as a one-yard run by Aaron Osborne (Sr., Houston, Texas, Physical Education) made it 13-7 at halftime.

Marcus Kerrigan (Sr., Cary, Ill., Sociology) hit a 47-yard field goal in the third stanza and Shawn Davis (Sr., Hamersville, Ohio, Physical Education) crossed the goal line in the fourth quarter to complete the rally. A long-time coach, he has spent most of his 38-season career in Iowa, including nine years at fellow MWL program St. Ambrose. He came to Grand View from Sam Rayburn HS (Texas) where he served as athletic director and head football coach for four years.

Woodley is a member of three Hall of Fames–the Iowa High School Football Coaches Association, the University of Northern Iowa, and Waterloo East HS. He has won Coach of the Year honors at each school in which he has coached and was the NAIA District 15 Coach of the Year while at St. Ambrose.

COACH HAFNER SAYS: On the Olivet Nazarene Game: “This was a great game all the way to the end. I am extremely proud of how our kids handled some adversity. They stayed together and were very positive throughout. Our defense was great the whole game and our offense and special teams made plays when we needed them to.”

On Grand View: “Grand View is a very good football team. They present many challenges for our team, but if we can play with enthusiasm and pride I feel we can come out with a win. Our players know that retaining the Rock and Ladder trophy is a very big deal to the university and all of our alumni.”
